We saw Santa Claus at a Christmas party last night. Both kids were so excited while waiting in line to sit on his lap. When it was our turn, Jared marched right up and sat down. Santa said, "What would you like for Christmas?" and Jared promptly said, "CANDY!" Santa said, "Do you want anything else for Christmas?" Jared, "CANDY!" Then he gave Santa a big hug, took the offered candy cane, jumped off Santa's lap, and started eating.

At that point, Megan realized that it was her turn, and she panicked. She refused to sit on Santa's lap, refused to talk to him. She took her candy cane and ran off.

Today, she decided that she had better write Santa a letter since she didn't tell him what she wanted for Christmas.

"Dear Santa,

I want a heart (a stuffed one to sleep with that she saw at the store), two ponies and clothes (for her American Girl doll, Felicity), and a statue of Jesus.

Love Megan"

Merry Christmas!

I can't believe it! I am such a slacker. Time has simply run away from me. It's been too long since I've updated this blog. Here are some recent pictures of the kids.

This is Jared playing in the rain a few weeks ago. He was soaked from head to toe, but he had a blast.

These are pictures of Megan at the park the other day. I can't believe how quickly she is growing up! It's crazy how fast they change!

I'll be taking some Christmas pictures in the next day or two, so watch for them!

Jared is talking more and more every day. Sometimes I wonder when he finds time to draw breath! The better he talks, the more his personality shows. He is such a tease! On Sunday night, Travis made cookies. When he took the cookie sheet out of the oven, he set it on a cooling rack and he warned the kids that it was very hot, so be careful not to touch. Yesterday, he was moving things around on the counter as he was making dinner. He set some dishes on top of the cooling rack (yes - it was still on the counter....my dishwasher has been broken and the dishes were a little backed up). Jared looked at the dishes, and said, "Dishes hot, daddy. Don't touch!" Then he laughed and laughed. I think that's the first joke he's told. I don't think it will be the last...

It's Saturday night!

Guess what! It's 7:45 on Saturday night and both of my kids are in bed. And one is asleep. I should be working, but instead, I'm just hanging out. We went and took pictures of the kids in their Halloween costumes today. I hate waiting until the last minute because everyone is always in a hurry to go Trick-or-Treating. They don't want to pose for "just one more picture." And the lighting is always bad. And the background is always cluttered...So, this year I got smart and dressed the kids up in their costumes and took pictures a week ahead. I'm sure I'll still take some on Halloween night, but this way, if they don't turn out, I won't feel bad!

Jumping on the band wagon

Everybody's doing it...that makes it right, right? I've broken down and started a blog. We'll see how it goes. I'm not sure I can keep up with everything in this media age - it all makes me feel so OLD!
