Halloween 2015

Friends, family, random Internet people..... I present to you:
Halloween 2015
In no particular order

Megan - Preteen Girl with Attitude who doesn't like Halloween
Kate - Minnie Mouse
William - Mickey Mouse
Travis - Goofy
Jared - Frankenstein's Monster

Not pictured: Anna - Tired Mom

William woke up from his nap after I had done Jared's hair and makeup. It scared him so badly he cried for about 20 minutes and refused to put on his costume. But once we got to the church and he saw all of the other kids were dressed up (and that people were handing out candy) he calmed down.

Jared thought it was the coolest thing that our Bishop was dressed as Frankenstein's Monster as well.

Kate kept doing the "I Love You" sign, giving people hugs, and blowing kisses after she got candy.

Kate insisted on posing with our friend Lauryn (dressed as Mary Poppins) but before I could take a picture, William wormed his way in to the grouping. Little Photo Bomber!

Percy and Frankenstein took a break from Candy Collecting to pose for a photo.

These two are actually from Kate's preschool Halloween party. How did she get so cute?

Classic Crazyface Katelyn.

Valentine's Day 2014

Yesterday my friend Jen threw a couples Valentine's Day party. No kids, just lots of good food, good friends, and tons of laughter. I honestly don't think I've laughed so hard in a long time.
Seriously. We couldn't stop laughing. Could. Not. Stop.

Of course, the props didn't help matters.
I think the guys really got into the props. :D

There were games. Some of us were a little more competitive than others.

 There were door prizes.

  There was whipped cream.

And more whipped cream.

And even more whipped cream. Travis squirted Jen with the whipped cream. And she gave him his Just Desserts. (Bwhahaha! See what I did there? Just desserts! Hehehe!)

There was wonderful food and decedent desserts (sorry - I consumed mine long before I thought of taking a picture. Trust me - it was all wonderful).

There were 8 wonderful friends who know how to have a good time together. Lots of fun, maybe a little over-sharing, inside jokes, and all in all, a wonderful evening.

Best of all, I got to spend the evening with my wonderful, handsome husband.

More pictures of the Uintas

Travis took these pictures. Aren't they beautiful? I tend to just take pictures of people and ignore the scenery, so I'm glad he took them.

Sing Us a Song, You're the Piano......um....Guys.

Let me just preface this post by saying that I have the best husband in the whole world. Not only does he have really good taste in women ( ;) ), he has really good taste in music. He got tickets for us to go see the Piano Guys while they were here preforming at the House of Blues in Houston.

Wait. What? You aren't familiar with the Piano Guys? Get thyself to YouTube, my friend. I'll post a few of my favorites at the end of this post, but you really should watch all their stuff. It's fabulous.

This one is my favorite:

Wait, no. This one is:

Okay, this one is really it:

Or maybe this one:

If I have to choose, we might be here a while. Just go check them out.

What's the True Cost of Participating in the Elders Quorum Pinewood Derby?

The Elders Quorum held a Pinewood Derby last week. This was the first time our family really got excited about building cars.

Kids:
Basic Pinewood Derby Car Kit ......$ 4 Each
Paint, Sandpaper, Glitter, etc ......Free (I insisted they use what we already had)

Travis got pretty excited about building his car, especially since they didn't have to follow the regular Cub Scout rules. Basically the rules were anything goes,as long as it was gravity powered (no motors, CO2 cartridges, etc).

He decided to make an "Agent P" car.
Travis:
Basic Pinewood Derby car kit ......$4
Special axles and barrings .....$40
Custom machined wheels ......$20
Coping Saw, Chisel, Epoxy, and other misc tools .......$30
Paint ........$4
Wood putty .........$4
Lead Weights ......$5
Can of Tuna ......$2
Googley Eyes ......$2
Hat .......$2

Watching your husband be as excited as a little boy while making a Pinewood Derby car......... Priceless

(After all that, the wheels popped off on the first race and wouldn't stay put after that. The epoxy wouldn't hold. But watch out next year! He'll be back and he's car will be smoking fast!)
